MULTICLIMACT
Leading the transition to climate resilient environments with Brigaid Connect’s expertise

Europe faces unprecedented climate challenges. The MULTICLIMACT project emerges as an ambitious response to transform our cities and buildings into environments prepared to face floods, heat waves, droughts, and other extreme phenomena. And in this continental challenge, Brigaid Connect brings its unique experience as a catalyst for climate resilience innovation.
What is MULTICLIMACT?
MULTICLIMACT is a European project funded by Horizon Europe that began in 2023 and will conclude in 2027. Coordinated by RINA Consulting, it brings together 23 partners from 10 European countries including companies, research centers, and universities, all committed to a common goal: to improve the resilience, preparedness, and response capacity of the built environment against climatic and natural hazards.
The project develops an integrated methodological framework and advanced digital tools to help public administrations and citizens assess and strengthen the resilience of buildings, urban areas, and entire territories. Activities range from analysis and design to simulation and validation of climate adaptation solutions at multiple scales, from urban districts to singular infrastructures.
Four pilot cities, one European laboratory
MULTICLIMACT is based on practical experimentation in four strategically distributed pilot sites: Camerino in Italy, Barcelona in Spain, Leidschendam-Voorburg and Roermond in the Netherlands, and Riga in Latvia. Each location faces specific climate challenges requiring customized yet replicable solutions.
In Barcelona, a city that is part of the 100 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities by 2030, MULTICLIMACT actively contributes to the Superilles (superblocks) project, developing innovative pavements with recycled glass that reduce urban heat island effects and sustainable urban drainage systems (SUDS) to manage flash floods. With more than 1.6 million inhabitants and densities exceeding 50,000 inhabitants per square kilometer in some neighborhoods, Barcelona represents the challenge of adapting dense urban environments to climate change.
Ambitious goals for a resilient Europe
MULTICLIMACT aims to lead the transition toward urban environments and buildings more resistant to climate change and extreme phenomena, developing a methodological framework and digital tools that enable administrations and citizens to assess and strengthen the resilience of their infrastructures. The project seeks to implement comprehensive, sustainable, and economically viable solutions for local adaptation to multiple natural threats.
Among its specific objectives are the validation and demonstration of effective solutions in pilot tests distributed across several European countries, facilitating knowledge transfer and best practices promoting their adoption in other cities and regions, boosting research in materials, technologies, and designs that reinforce the durability and energy efficiency of the built environment, and promoting informed decision-making through predictive digital models and advanced simulations.
Brigaid Connect’s distinctive value
Brigaid Connect participates as a strategic partner in the MULTICLIMACT consortium, contributing its consolidated experience in innovation for climate resilience.
Its contribution to the MULTICLIMACT project is multidimensional. Brigaid Connect provides proven methodologies for developing innovation ecosystems, facilitates access to testing facilities for prototypes, provides guidance in business strategy development and marketing communication, and promotes the creation of Innovation Communities that accelerate solution implementation.
Brigaid Connect’s experience with the Climate Innovation Window, a platform that connects innovative solutions with real climate adaptation needs, is particularly valuable for MULTICLIMACT. This expertise enables the identification and scaling of the most promising innovations developed in the project, ensuring that technical solutions find their way to practical implementation and the market.
Additionally, Brigaid Connect contributes significantly to developing sustainable business models for resilience solutions, facilitating market analysis and public-private investment strategies that ensure the economic viability and scalability of innovations beyond the project period.
Building tomorrow’s Europe
MULTICLIMACT, with Brigaid Connect’s catalyzing experience, doesn’t just develop technical solutions: it builds a replicable model of resilient urban transformation. Through the combination of technological innovation, advanced digital tools, and collaborative planning practices, the project aspires to protect the quality of life and safety of European citizens against the growing challenges of climate change, contributing to Europe achieving its vision of becoming a completely climate-resilient society by 2050.
